Sailing Sunday

I am here in San Ignacio right now, but I just want to quickly write about my day Sunday in San Pedro. Me, Kenly, and Julia went sailing with the local San Pedro kid's sailing club. It was absolutely amazing. We met one of the founders, Forrest, at Pedro's Inn and he was telling me all about it and said to come out on Sunday to sail with them and learn about it. So we went on Sunday and it was the best day. We went sailing on one of the catamaran's and watched the kids, 2 to a boat, sail up to the north end of the island. They did so good! They knew exactly what to do and did it well. It was so cool seeing the kids have responsibility and work together. You could see the teamwork. We went sailing all the way to the north end and stopped at a place on the water for lunch and to hang out. There was a pot luck lunch so all the kids parents brought a dish for everyone. This was the most authentic Belizean lunch I have ever had: lentil salad, plantains, cucumber salad, curry, mashed potatoes, rice with pineapples, and much more. We hung out and then sailed back to the south end. This was such a great experience and I learned so much about sailing. We are going back next weekend to go sailing with them and watch and help with their race on Sunday.
